Lent Courses 2011


                                       AT THE TABLE

                                         We will be reflecting on five themes drawn from
                                    Bible passages about people sharing meals together. 

                          
 
The Subject Matter:-

The  readings listed below will be used as the basis for discusssion at the Lent Groups:-

Week  1:     Welcoming the stranger:  Abraham & the 3 visitors   (Genesis 18: 1 - 15)

Week  2:     A meal for the journey :  The Passover  (Exodus 12: 1 - 14)

Week  3:     Eating with sinners: The company Jesus kept   (Luke 5: 27 - 35)

Week  4:     Feeding on the word of God:  Mary and Martha   (Luke 10: 38 - 42)

Week  5:     Feasting in the kingdom of God:  Who is invited?   (Luke 14: 15 - 24)

N.B.     The readings and theme for the Lent Groups will be used in the Services on the Sunday prior to the Lent Group

A Prayer for the Lent Course:

Living God, your Son made himself known to his friends
as they gathered at the table and broke bread together:
open the eyes of our faith so that we may see all things
in the light of your love, shown to us in Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.




The following Discussion Groups will be held:-
 
 
Stoke Hammond on Tuesday afternoon:

March 15th,  22nd,  29th,  April 5th,  12th

Discussion group at the Methodist Church, in the afternoon at 2.15pm for 2.30pm until 3.30pm.

Before the first meeting on 15th March there will be a shared lunch from 1.00pm onwards.

Great Brickhill on Thursday afternoon:

Simple lunch at 12.30pm followed by discussion group at 2pm at different venues each week (see below). Come to either, or both! No charge for lunch—donations for a chosen charity are welcome.

March 31st:   Furze Hill, Ivy Lane

April 7th:   Roxburgh House, Ivy Lane - changed to 1.00pm at the new meeting room at the Parish Hall

April 14th:   Brandlings, Pound Hill
